Review:
The Tolucan Times

Ted Ryan, Sheila Oaks, and Bert Hinchman in “Pulling Leather.”
Two plays
to “review” for you this week By Pat Taylor on October 6th, 2011
“The term ‘pulling leather’ is used when
a bronc rider touches any part of the saddle or horse with their free
hand, triggering disqualification.”
… A lovely and heart-touching scene between Jacob’s landlords, Vince
and Grace (Bert Hinchman and Sheila Oaks), on their romantic 40th anniversary,
was a highlight! Attractive set design (uncredited) and effective lighting
(John Grant) and sound (Jerry Sider) must be mentioned. Will Jacob regain
his nerve, dare to love, and accept his past? You’ll just have to see
the play to find out… Running through Oct. 30 at the Actors Forum Theatre
located at 10655 Magnolia Blvd. in NoHo.
For seats, call (323) 822-7898.

direction is pure gold, adding full and fluid strokes to every scene.”

definitely worthy of your time.”
“In its present stage, Pulling Leather is an engrossing work with a lot of
high, compelling moments.”

Krista is the dumb blonde, the artistic one, who suffers more rejection."
“Jeffrey brings a keen awareness to this gal and has one of the finest moments
of the play.” “Both Hinchman and Oaks are fun and caring, as is Larry Lederman…”
“Ann Marie Morrell has a complex role…bringing tenderness and confusion to
the mentally-ill woman.”
“Sloan is fast-talking and fun as the goofball Cliff…”
LAist
